I grew up near there in Sylva, NC from seventh grade on and have toured the Biltmore House several times. I remember a couple of field trips while in school and of course tours with my family. That is really neat you have been able to teach your students about so many different forms of poetry. I thought I was doing good and have only taught I Am and acrostic poems. I am glad your students have enjoyed the expierence so much and it has been such a positive experiences. I may have to steal your idea of giving my students a copy of all of the poems we have written! Wow! I too lost loved ones due to a train. But I still enjoyed the book and think that it is a very powerful way to teach students that perhaps adults do know what they are talking about after all.
